The Settings and Worlds of Adam Czech :
neopocalypse

About: In his search for a suitable role-playing campaign Adam dug up an undeveloped setting and pumped some adrenaline in it for a forum thread called "And the Sun Still Rises", started on SonicVerse Team in January 2006. The story never took off and the setting was dropped, perhaps to be used at a later date.

Premise/Hook: The setting for neopocalypse is the collection of territories collectively known as the Former Unites States of America. After the country's collapse after a nuclear, the government sold the nearly useless land to other interested parties to get out of debt: Great Britain reclaimed the northeastern colonies, Mexico and Canada got more purchase in the south and north, respectively, and even Japan claimed the former centers of industry on the west coast. With the U.S. out of the picture, the other world powers grow and begin their vies for power (the major forms of currency are now the yenro, a combination of the Japanese yen and the euro, and the British pound sterling), and those left in the remains of the United States try to make a home for themselves out of the rubble.

Themes: Survival and anarchy in the new New World is a major driving force of stories set in neopocalypse. There are also shades of influence of the new controllers of the areas - Japan tries to support the former entertainment capitol of the world with a new far east flavor; Britain's flag flies over the remains of New York City; the Heartland has barely any use as an agricultural center. The title of that first story, "And The Sun Still Rises", was meant to imply that, in spite of all of the changes, life still goes on in this new America, and the people there still do the best they can in what is now a Third-World country needing help from other nations.
